The Chief Education Officer of Srinagar, Mr. Mohd Shabir, hosted an exhilarating District Level Sports Mela for Children With Special Needs (CWSN)today at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Kothibagh. The event aimed to celebrate inclusivity and instill the values of sportsmanship among students, particularly those with special needs.
The event witnessed a series of exciting competitions, including the Wheelchair Race (15 meters), Carom, Tug of War, Foot Race, and Badminton.CWSN Participants from the eight zones of District Srinagar demonstrated their exceptional talents and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Mr. Mohd Shabir, Chief Education Officer Srinagar, addressed the enthusiastic participants and underlined the significance of sports in the lives of children with special needs. He emphasized that sports not only promote physical well-being but also play a crucial role in developing teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship qualities. Mr. Shabir encouraged all the students to actively participate and excel in sports, regardless of their abilities.
He stressed that these events not only provided a platform for CWSN students to display their athletic prowess but also fostered a sense of camaraderie among participants, teachers, and parents. These event served as a reminder of the potential that lies within every student, reinforcing the importance of sports and physical activity in their overall development.
Ms. Anjum Raja, Deputy CEO of Srinagar, addressed the participants and extended her heartfelt congratulations to the young athletes. She emphasized the importance of creating an inclusive environment where every child, regardless of their abilities, can thrive and be part of the educational and sports community.She said that It was a heartwarming sight to see the smiles on the faces of these children as they competed and cheered each other on.
Ms Nusrat Bukhari,Principal GGHSS Kothibagh also graced the Mela with her presence.
In the Wheel Chair Race (15 metres) Mr Sabir of BHSS Soura, Mohammad Hamad,GMS Aali kadal and Mohammad Tameen of BHS Kalashpora secured first, second and third position respectively.In the caroom Mr Waqar of BMS Gasoo,Mr Hanaan Bilal of SP Higher Secondary School and Mohammad Sadat of BHS Nowhatta secured first , second and third Position.
Mr.Danish of BHSS Zadibal secured first position in the chess .
In the Badminton Mr Abrar of BHS Rainawari,Mohd Usman of BMS Rajbagh and Mr Zaid of BHS Rainawari secured first, second and third position respectively.
In the Tug of War Mr Ahmed Kawa of GMS Kathimaidan, Mr Aijaz BHSS Nowpora and Mohammad Ayan of BHS Sonwar secured First, Second and Third Position respectively.
In the Foot Race ,Ms Munazah Showkat,GMSChottabazar,Mr Sahil of BMS Kathimaidan andAmaar Janzaib of GMS Kothibagh clinched the first, second and third position respectively.
